Mentored Fellowship Program

In September of this year, Youth Rise Texas will launch our second annual Mentored Fellowship Program support ten Austin area youth (ages 15-20) by providing them with a unique mentorship program designed to foster civic engagement and self-empowerment!

All ten participants will propose and carry out a community-based social change project, commit to volunteering with Youth Rise Texas and attending youth group meetings weekly throughout the school year. Youth will meet with a mentor twice a month who will help them design their social change project, develop goals, and stay accountable to their vision.  Youth can select to complete a project within one of our three focus areas: Arts & Social Change, Personal Development, or Community Organizing.

Each young person who completes the mentorship program will be awarded a $1,000 continuing education scholarship in June 2018, to be used on traditional college tuition, or towards unique educational opportunities like specialized camps or trainings that will support their personal and professional development.

If  you are a YOUNG PERSON, and you’d like to participate in our mentorship and scholarship program, we’d love to hear from you! We will post the application as soon as it becomes available, and in the meantime, mark your calendar for our August 27 Mentee Mixer Party & Info Session!  If you have questions about the mentorship program, please email kymberlie [at] youthrisetx [dot] org.

If you’d like to BE A MENTOR, that’s great!  Please see our mentor info sheet here to determine if you are able to make the time commitment.  Once you’re ready, you can fill out our online application as well as this online background check form and we will be in touch.  Please note that you must complete both for your application to be considered.  Applications are due on a rolling basis until August 1, and feel free to contact kymberlie [at] youthrisetx [dot] org if you have any questions.
