Join Youth Rise Texas on August 15 from 6:00pm to 9:30pm at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center for our end of summer celebration and fundraiser. We’ll start with an evening of inspiring youth theatre for justice followed by great music, cold drinks, and tasty treats catered by local Austin favorites like Vivo Cafe! Please be sure to RSVP and reserve your seats in advance!
Free tickets are available here, and donations will be accepted throughout the evening.
We are proud to invite our community to witness the work done during the first annual Youth Organizing Institute. “My Life Without You” is a multi-media monologue series created by six teens who have been impacted in multiple ways by familial incarceration and deportation. We’re honored to ask our community to carry these stories and walk with us towards the day when no one will have to grow up this way.
We’ll begin the evening with a performance of our work followed by a brief talkback with the Youth Rise teens and a short program to honor the work of our members and supporters. After intermission we’ll celebrate to the sounds of Krudas Cubensi and others to help us dance ourselves free and imagine a different way to be.
This event is all ages – please arrive early! Doors open at 5:45pm! You can reserve your free tickets on Eventbrite here!
